Our story

A Little Color. A Lot of Thought.

Getting dressed should be something to look forward to. Faraway places, a lifelong love of textiles and traditional craft inspire our prints, silhouettes and details you notice up close.

The Woman Behind bella tu

Jeanne Daniel, Founder & Designer

Jeanne has spent more than 40 years in the world of luxury fashion and design, working with names like Tiffany & Co., Vera Wang, Carelle, Michele Watches, and Armani A/X. Along the way, she developed a keen eye for color, an appreciation for craftsmanship, and a firm belief that the smallest details often make the biggest difference.

Today, she brings that experience (and a considerable love of prints) to bella tu, personally designing each collection. From the first fabric swatch to the final finishing touch, Jeanne is involved in every step. She’s particular about the details. We think that’s a good thing.

Inspiration Is Everywhere

A garden in full bloom. The colors of a favorite destination. A vintage textile discovered along the way. For Jeanne, inspiration has a habit of showing up everywhere, and often when she least expects it.

Her love of Indian textiles, particularly the graceful drape of the kurti and sari, first inspired bella tu. The saturated colors, intricate embellishments, and centuries-old traditions of block printing and embroidery continue to influence the collections today.

Each season brings something new to the drawing board, but the idea remains the same: to create clothes with personality, a sense of place, and a story worth telling.

The Art of the Details

Some things simply can’t be rushed. Hand-blocked prints, intricate embroidery, delicate beading: these are the details that give bella tu its character, and they’re worth taking the time to get right.

Every collection is brought to life in Mumbai, where Jeanne works with the skilled craftspeople at the Gopi Vaid manufacturing facility. Their expertise in traditional techniques, combined with Jeanne’s eye for color and design, is what makes each piece feel so considered.

It’s a collaborative process, from the first sketch to the final stitch. And while you may not notice every little detail at first glance, we certainly hope you’ll enjoy discovering them.

“We put a great deal of thought into every piece. The idea is that you shouldn’t have to.”
